About ANZSCTS

The Australian and New Zealand Society of Cardiac and Thoracic Surgeons was formed to serve the medico-political needs of cardiothoracic surgeons in Australasia. It has amalgamated with the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery of the RACS. The Society plays an important role in the development of Cardiac Surgery services in Australia.  The Society in conjunction with the Cardiac Society maintains the Journal,  Heart Lung and Circulation.

The Society and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons work together to maintain core activities including:

  1. Education, training and examinations of future cardio-thoracic surgeons
  2. Course development
  3. Continuing professional development
  4. Research Funding via the ASCTS Research Foundation

The Annual meeting is usually held in November and for many years has been based at the Noosa Sheraton. In 2012 it will be held in November 11-14 at Hobart Tasmania. Further details are available under the meetings section of the site.
